Chamber Director Reflects on Community’s Growth and Pledges New Year’s Resolution
By Lisa Rioux

As I reflect on the year 2007, I look back and remember how the Zachary Chamber of Commerce recognized the Zachary Community School Board for their efforts in raising community standards in order to remain the No. 1 school district in Louisiana.
I also remember how Georgia Pacific led the charge for improving workforce development by an ongoing pursuit with Baton Rouge Community College to open a satellite campus in Zachary.
I look back on celebrating 33 new Chamber member ribbon cuttings, taking part in Zachary’s strategic planning process and awarding Business Leadership Awards at the Chamber’s annual banquet. I remember all the networking opportunities through monthly luncheons, quarterly coffees, an annual golf tournament and the ever-popular Ladies Night Out.
I remember walking in Copper Mill with the March of Dimes to save babies, thanking Chamber members for their support at the annual Chamber crawfish boil, recognizing local talent at monthly ZFest concerts in the park, celebrating the new expansion project at Lane Regional Hospital and rejoicing as more than 2,000 citizens enjoyed the citywide Open House and the annual Chamber Christmas parade.
What’s in store for Chamber members in 2008? The Chamber has worked hard to provide its members with growth opportunities for their businesses with quarterly business seminars beginning in January. By becoming a Chamber volunteer, you will receive a recognition program and continued networking opportunities with monthly Business Builders Luncheons and Quarterly First Appointment Coffees.
The Chamber ensures that everything we do is in line with the Chamber core values of community, excellence, faith and family. We invite you to join us in 2008 as we celebrate 40 years and resolve to continue promoting and enhancing the economic business and community development of the Zachary area!
